A Swiss association exists since 2010 to support Stara. It does so altruistically, meaning that those in charge in Kibera determine their own course and steer their own boat. We simply try to help them meet the needs they specify. We make regular contributions to cover daily requirements and provide practical assistance when required, such as for construction of the new classrooms.

No Swiss franc is retained by us for administrative costs. We work for free because we believe in the equality of humanity. Moreover, we are convinced that smart projects, supported by the locals themselves open the door to a better future for all.

The Board of the Swiss association is supported by people with different ideologies and a cultural interest in the developments in Africa and the world. They have no business interest in the community of Kibera and are not tied to a political or religious group. The Swiss support association is a registered charity and was listed as such in 2010 by the Finance Department of Inheritance and Gift Taxes of the Fribourg Cantonal Government.
